Publication of new data

This time we focus on the process of establishment of the three confessions that signed a cooperation agreement with the State in 1992: Protestants, Jews and Muslims. To this end, data from the directory of places of worship has been processed, and we also have prepared maps and chronologies in order to show the roots of these confessions in Spain. See Publication.

The law on Non-contentious jurisdiction was finally approved by parliament on 18 June.

This law provides for the modification of laws 24/1992, 25/1992 and 26/1992 approving the respective agreements with FEREDE, FCJE and CIE regarding marriage, whereby the Civil Code now allows for the possibility of religious marriages with civil effects in the case of well-established confessions. Although these provisions do not come into force until 30 June 2017, a transitory provision provides for a transitional regime until such time, validating such marriages as of the twentieth day after the publication of the law in the Official State Gazette.

Law 12/2015 of 24 June on the granting of Spanish nationality to Sephardic Jews originally from Spain was published in the Official State Gazette on 25 June.

Awareness-raising meeting “Training to prevent and detect racism, xenophobia and related forms of intolerance at school”, organized by the Spanish Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia on 10 and 11 June.

“Psychological counselling in emergencies and religious singularity”, organized by the College of Psychologists of Castilla and Leon and the Civil Protection Agency 112 Castilla and Leon, in collaboration with Fundación Pluralismo y Convivencia, on 27 June.

On 6 April, we interviewed Antonio Ardid Muñoz, then counsellor for social action and education in Alicante, regarding the informative meeting between religious organizations and the city of Alicante organized by Fundación Pluralismo y Convivencia and the city council a few days earlier.
